Silvie is a small, shy unicorn with a secret talent. The wind tousles the trees gently as Silvie stands below them. Gemstone Glade is empty. This is how she likes it. For she has a secret to preserve.
Slowly she tiptoes to the fountain. Its waters dazzle her eyes; blues, greens and purples flashing like a disco rainbow. She neighs softly as she lowers her horn deep within the fountain.
Immediately, the fountain bubbles, as if a child’s party is happening within. The bubbles grow larger, and spin above the glade. They glint in the sun as though they are winking, a special secret inside. And indeed there is.
Each bubble contains a silver piece of jewellery: bracelets, rings, necklaces and brooches. All the perfect size for a five year old child. The bubbles will sail far away, to find their surprised recipients. A blessing in a bubble will delight tiny hearts.
Stephanie lies in hospital, unable to sleep. She fingers her long blonde hair and wishes she were at home with her parents. Her pink nail varnish is chipped, and how she longs to repaint it. Her heart screams for sparkles and fun. Her weak body says otherwise.
A flash of light catches Stephanie’s eye. She looks up. How strange! A large and shining bubble is floating towards her!
It lands in her hands. She laughs as it pops and is gone.
But in its place, a silver necklace laces her palm. Tentatively, she touches it, and smiles. It is beautiful, a circular locket engraved with tiny symbols. She opens the locket and gasps. A picture of a fountain and a unicorn confronts and comforts her. Stephanie is overjoyed.
She falls asleep with the locket entwined in her hand. And then she is there. A magical forest glade, with a bubbling fountain, large pink crystals at its edges, and a unicorn sitting on the ground. Fairies flit among the trees. Stephanie laughs with dizzy delight.
“Stephanie.” A deep voice speaks inside her mind. She turns around. A large wolf faces her, kindness in its eyes. She is not scared.
“Let me give you my gift, the strength of wolves.”
The wolf walks round her. “Strength will now reclaim your body.”

The wolf walks away, as Stephanie lies down beside the unicorn. “I am Honey,” the unicorn says in her head. “Sleep now. You will feel better in the morning.”
When Stephanie awakes, she is no longer in an enchanted forest glade. She is back in the hospital. However something is different. She can feel her legs! She can move her arms! The weakness has fled like a thief in the night. Her body feels fantastic.
The doctors cannot explain the sudden change in her. But deep down, she knows the truth. It is her necklace. It has healed her.
From that day on, Stephanie will sleep with the necklace under her pillow every night. Like Silvie, she now has a secret to cherish. And it is one she will keep forever.
