The moon kissed Gemstone Glade softly, her light dancing like a silver fairy in the fountain waters. The glade purred in expectation of the profound.
It did not have long to wait. Zena the winged Zebra flew gently in to the glade, magic in her deep eyes and magnificence in her mighty wings. She was the only known Pegasus zebra, a mystery in dazzling black and white.

Tonight, she had come to Gemstone Glade for a very special reason. When the moon shone through the trees of Gemstone Glade it opened a portal, a secret gateway to a black unicorn dimension, accessible only to black unicorns – and to herself, the one winged zebra in the world.

Zena turned in a circle three times, and then in front of her opened a window deep black with golden stars. Zena jumped through effortlessly.
She was in Bliss Star, sacred land of the black unicorn.
A rocky landscape rose like waves to reach the mountains beyond. A full lilac moon shone down, gifting the land purple shadows and lilac lace light. Two black unicorns trotted across the rocks towards her. They neighed in simple greeting, than upon reaching Zena they stared deep in to her eyes.
“Welcome to Bliss Star, gentle Zebra princess. You are the first zebra to come here, and I suspect you will be the only zebra to visit us. We can attune you to black bliss magic, it will give you both strength and the ability to heal.”
Zena spent many happy hours exploring Bliss Star, with its ruined castles left by a long gone superior human race. Bliss magic energy shot through her body like a racehorse with a black unicorn soul. Gold threads spun across her wings.

Then it was time to go home, her brain soothed by bliss magic healing balm, her heart beating with joy.
Zena returned to Gemstone Glade, and curled up to sleep under the fountain with its soft music. This glade was like a real home where her heart never left, although Zena’s travels would take her far and wide.
The next day, she flew through the clouds of Planet Earth with her new bliss magic energy. Zena spied a field of black cows below, and knew that somewhere in their hearts would be a tiny piece of black unicorn magic. She flew around them, imagining her bliss magic healing them all. And then to her surprise but perhaps also supreme satisfaction, the cows began to sprout wings, little at first and then growing and growing until wide and beautiful like her own.

Zena neighed with delight. Below a black and gold window appeared, the portal to Bliss Star. One by one the bemused cows flapped their new wings, jumped through and were gone. Zena flew over the empty field in disbelief. What had she done?
The portal remained open, so she jumped through too. She was back in the rocky landscape, this time with a golden and black sun high in the sky. Three black unicorns approached her. One had a grey mane and eyes of experience and enigma.
“I am Whisper the Wise,” he informed Zena. “I see that my friends have given you black bliss magic, but have not cautioned you on its use. We will accept these cows to our world, but please no more. What you can do however, is keep an eye on black horses, they are the closest to us from the equine kingdom. A neglected, abused or sick black horse, then yes please feel free to use bliss magic and open a portal for them to come to us.”
And so Zena did as instructed. She became a black horse angel. She turned up when they were sick, she appeared when they were homeless. And these lucky horses were healed, and given a new life of freedom and health on Bliss Star. Whisper the Wise was very pleased. And Zena’s success as a black horse saviour delivered her a thousand hoofsteps of happiness, and Pegasus wings of pleasure.
From time to time, she would visit Gemstone Glade just for a rest, relaxing under the fountain, letting its soft music heal her soul. The wind whispered in the trees above, and all was at peace.
