Golden Fire

The Gemstone Glade Christmas Tree glimmered in the winter sun, its rainbow array of baubles winking, conspirators of magic.

Fairy Citrine Cindy flew round the tree, a smile of a hundred suns on her tiny yellow face. Today, she would choose the yellow bauble, her kindred colour.

She danced in front of the bauble, waving her arms and swinging her legs furiously. The sunlight sparkled in her wings, a Christmas light in freefall.

Then the yellow bauble turned in to a huge portal of golden light. With a cheeky chuckle, Cindy flew in to the shimmering gateway.

Golden yellow sands confronted her, emerald green waves licking the beach gently. A large yellow sun hung triumphant in the sky. Hills of yellow grass hugged the beach like a long lost friend.

A yellow seagull flew towards her. “Hello, fairy from afar. I am Seagull Solomon.”

Cindy instantly liked Solomon, he was the same colour as her after all. “I am from Gemstone Glade,” she whispered in her silken voice, the sound of angels laughing.

“Gemstone Glade? It really exists then? I thought it was a myth, a place so magical it could not possibly be real …”

“I can take you there,” promised Cindy.

“I would love to go. But let me first introduce you to my friend Jasmine, a magical sea dragon.”

Solomon cawed to the sky, the sound of every wonder of the world rolled in to one.

The ocean sighed, and the waves parted in two as something large approached … Then she was there, in all her golden yellow glory. A beautiful dragon with emerald green eyes and glowing yellow wings. She breathed yellow smoke as she slowly crept over the sand towards them.

“Jasmine! I have a new friend!”

Cindy laughed. It was not often she met other yellow creatures, especially not ones as mysterious as these two.

Jasmine asked Cindy to climb atop her head, and then flew over the yellow hills and lakes of yellow lava, and of course the ocean studded by islands of yellow sands.

Cindy felt an aching sense of awe suffuse her heart. She was in paradise.

“I can transmit sunshine energy,” explained Jasmine. “It can heal, it can burn away the old and transform the world, it can make magic.”

“I simply must show you and Solomon my home now,” sighed Cindy.

So Cindy returned through the yellow portal of light, followed by a seagull and then a mighty dragon.

The other crystalline fairies flew around them, intrigued and hoping for some magic. They were not disappointed.

Seagull Solomon shed a yellow feather. The fairies seized it and began to play. Their wings sprouted tiny yellow feathers. They giggled in delight.

Then Jasmine breathed yellow smoke on the Gemstone Glade fountain. Fierce dragon fire ignited, floating on the surface of the water like huge candles. Jasmine breathed again, extinguishing the fire. The fairies clapped in delinquent delight.

Jasmine relit the fountain, and her magic trickled through the portals of the glade and drifted silently to Planet Earth.

On Christmas Eve, every fountain anywhere on Planet Earth lit up with ferocious yellow fire, a fleeting five minutes of magnificence. It was a Christmas sign, a portent of magic to come … It was the power of every child’s Christmas wish coming true.

Mystery Mountains

Unicorn Ryan trots in to Gemstone Glade with best friend white tiger cub Waterfall not far behind. They are here to unearth the magic stone tablet gifted to them last Christmas, read the story here

By placing a unicorn horn over the ancient text on the tablet, they can travel to any of the magical places listed.

Unicorn Ryan neighs softly. He touches the tip of his horn gently on the words “Mystery Mountains.”

A portal of sparkling ice appears before them, snowflakes floating in to the glade. Ryan and Waterfall look at each other, and then as one jump through the winter window.

They are on a snow kissed path that winds to a mountain ahead. A silken sunset dazzles their eyes and soothes their spirit. Winter wonder is in the air.

As they approach the mountain, they see the entrances to many caves. All have crystal growths around them, all in different crystal colours.

Today, they choose the nearest and rose quartz pink cave entrance.

They stand at its threshold in silent wonder. Before them, is a Gemstone Glade in pink. An identical fountain, however made of rose quartz with flowing pink waters.

Giant rose quartz clusters line the edges of the caves, looking like pink trees. And flying all around, rose quartz fairies. It really is a pink version of Gemstone Glade. However what is it doing here on this mountain?

And then she is there before you, a Pegasus unicorn with a pink tinged coat and horn.

“Welcome, intrepid travellers. I am Rose. Are you from our sister glade, the famous Gemstone Glade?”

“We are indeed,” says Ryan. “Are you connected to our glade in some way?”

“Yes, our fountain here acts as a portal to your glade. We never use it, but it is always there if needed. We generate pink healing energy here and send it to the world below as required.”

A tiny pink dolphin somersaults over the fountain.

“We are also home to Primrose the Pink Dolphin. She has the power to heal oceans, bringing gentle pink healing wherever she goes.”

A pink portal of light suddenly opens, and Primrose jumps through it.

“That is strange,” confides Rose. “What you see there is a portal to Gemstone Glade, your glade. It has never opened by itself before. It is a sign. Shall we visit together?”

And so Ryan and Waterfall jump through the pink portal behind Rose. They introduce her to the crystalline fairies and other unicorns from the forest. The fairies throw a party as only fairies can. There is cheer and chuckles, as Rose tells stories of her pink glade well in to the night.

Now the portal is open, fairies and unicorns alike can visit Mystery Mountains whenever they wish. The fountain turns rose pink. Pink dust falls like blossom, blessing the ground.

It begins to rain in Gemstone Glade, drops that slowly turn pink and kiss the ground with pastel promise.

Ryan and Waterfall both agree this has been their best adventure yet. A pink sun has risen in their hearts, and it will never set again.

Golden Rainbow

Black unicorn twins Cleo and Jess trot sleekly in to Gemstone Glade, their dark coats glistening under a soft sun, their golden horns shining like precious jewels on fire.

Slowly they circle the fountain, then lower their heads to drink, horns touching the flowing water. It turns gold, as a mute magic is unleashed. Golden light starts to rise from the fountain, turning into a rainbow, steps taking shape, each a different shade of gold, light and dark together in a dance of golden fire.

Cleo and Jess look at each other, and slowly nod. The rainbow grows higher, stretching to the sky. Cleo and Jess ascend its steps.

They reach its pinnacle, looking down on Gemstone Glade below, its fountain a shining beacon of silent hope. Then they descend the other side of the rainbow. As they reach the bottom, they are soothed by darkness. It is night here, in an alternate Gemstone Glade, the same yet in reverse. In this other world, there are three moons above. The fountain is larger and noisier, a song of moonshine magic, wild whispers in the night.

The trees frame the glade like ancient protectors, larger and therefore older than in their Gemstone Glade cousin. And in front of the fountain, are two white twin unicorns with golden horns.

“Welcome friends.” Unicorns always trust each other when they meet, as unkindness is unknown in the unicorn kingdom. “We are Clint and Jade.” The four unicorns get to know each other, and quickly realise that they are two pairs of twin souls, their lives so similar, yet different in the detail.

Gemstone Glade sighs in the soft moonlight, or Crystal Cave Glade as this version is called.

Clint and Jade show their new friends the crystal caves deep beneath the glade. A hole next to the fountain houses steps that descend, and descend. Finally they reach the bottom. Crystals of light throw shadows around a large underground cavern.

A deep pool in its centre contains tiny dolphins, jumping for joy to greet their unicorn friends. Each dolphin has a golden horn protruding from their head, they are uni-dolphins. Cleo and Jess have heard the stories of uni-dolphins, but did not believe them. Until now.

The dolphins and unicorns enjoy many hours telling stories and whispering legends. The pool links via an underground tunnel to the ocean, and more uni-dolphins arrive from there to join them. It is a night of magic and merriment. As the new friends party, mystical golden dust rises from their horns. A cloud forms and mounts the steps to rise high above Crystal Cave Glade. Then, the cloud releases golden rain, blessing the glade below with the healing power of gold. When it hits the ground, the rain forms golden pebbles.

In the morning, the golden rainbow is still there, waiting. Cleo and Jess retrace their steps, a new golden happiness in their hearts. They return to Gemstone Glade as night descends there, its one moon shining golden tonight.

The golden rainbow slowly fades, leaving behind gold dust on the ground. It starts to rain, and as if by magic the dust rises and turns in to tiny golden fairies.

The fairies of Gemstone Glade clap their hands in delight, new friends! It is a morning of golden magic, not the end but the start of a story, a tale that knows no conclusion, the never to be finished novel of Gemstone Glade.
